The GF 311 service is available by dialing 3-1-1 (701-746-4636 outside the city). Staff from the Public Information Office will answer calls Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Callers during other hours have the option to leave a voicemail and the call will be addressed the next business day.

Robbery-200 Block N. 6th St

On November 11, 2017 at approximately 9:33pm Officers of the Grand Forks Police Department were dispatched to the 200 block of North 6th St. for a report of a robbery that had just occurred in the alley to the east.
Preliminary investigation revealed that an unknown lone male suspect approached a male victim sitting in his vehicle and threatened him with a black handgun. The suspect fled the scene east bound on foot. The victim reported nothing was taken and he did not suffer any injuries. The suspect was described as an unknown aged dark complexed black male with a chin strap style beard last seen wearing a black jacket with a furry hood. No other details were available.
The Grand Forks Police Department urges area residents to remain vigilant and maintain situational awareness when travelling about the city. Anyone with information that may help with the investigation is asked to contact the police department in one of the following ways:

After further investigation into this incident it was determined that the reported victim had fabricated the story. A charge of False Report to Law Enforcement against Reid J. Peterson, 24 y/o, of Grand Forks was forwarded to the Grand Forks County State’s Attorneys Office for review.
