The North Dakota Legislature has made it easier for senior citizens or disabled residents to qualify for Homestead Tax Credits.
In the 2013 legislative session, lawmakers increased the household income limit from $26,000 to $42,000. It also raised the value of assets from $75,000 to $500,000 – including the value of the homestead.
The Grand Forks City Assessor’s Office is encouraging homeowners who think they may qualify for the tax credit to contact them at 701-746-2611.
Grand Forks County residents who think they may qualify should contact County Tax Equalization office at 701-780-8258.
Applications may also be obtained online at www.nd.gov/tax/property/forms.
Property owners who have already submitted an application for the year 2013 do not need to do anything as those applications have already been processed using the new changes.
Residents are encouraged to submit their applications by August 1, 2013.
