Utilities and Utility Billing

The City of Grand Forks is responsible for providing many services. Some of these are paid through operational budgets. Others, like the ones listed here, are paid through "user fees". This page will show you what those user fees are and how they apply to your dwelling or business.



2014 Garbage Rates - Residential

$15.21 per residential unit per month. This includes our yard waste composting and our recycling programs.

Special Pickup

Brush - $15 minimum, $1/minute for residential
Metal/Appliances - $15/appliance - residential & commercial
Tires - $5.00/car, $10.00/truck, $15.00 tractor
Misc. - $15 minimum + $1/minute after 5 minutes - residential & commercial

Extra pick up rates are the same as the rate for that particular site container for a once-a-week pick up. Temporary rental rates are the same as that rate on a per-dump basis.

2014 Landfill Rates: MSW - $45.56 per ton, Inert - $24.76 per ton, Special Waste (Ash, contaminated soil) - $37.351 per ton - $10 minimum charge.

Attention: You may have noticed a different look to your utility bill. The change was made to simplify the utility bill overall and make it easier to read and more customer friendly. Contact information is easily referenced near the top left portion of the page. The amount owed is highlighted in a box at the top and bottom of the page. The new utility bill now includes monthly service dates, so you can quickly determine the time frame for which you are being billed.
