Accreditation Manager

The Office of Professional Standards reports directly to the Chief of Police and is primarily responsible for internal affairs, policy & directives, grants administration, and public information. This office also publishes the department’s annual report and oversees the awards committee.

 

The Grand Forks Police Department was awarded its initial Advanced Law Enforcement Accreditation Award on Nov 22, 2014 from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). CALEA was created in 1979 as a credentialing authority through the joint efforts of law enforcement’s major executive associations to enhance law enforcement as a profession and to improve law enforcement service delivery.
The Accreditation Manager is tasked with the administration of the departments accreditation activities.

CIB The Criminal Investigations Bureau’s (CIB) main task is to investigate crimes that occur in Grand Forks.
Through investigative means we attempt to identify suspects and supply prosecutors with information needed for a successful prosecution, we also find evidence which protects innocent people from being charged with a crime.

CRB "In partnership with the community, we will employ traditional and nontraditional methods to reduce the fear of crime and be proactive in stopping crime and protecting life and property".

The Specialized Resource Bureau’s (SRB) purpose is to provide a partnership between police officers and the
residents of Grand Forks. The main focus of SRB is community policing based programs and activities.

Facilities & EquipmentEquipment Maintenance: The equipment maintenance section is responsible for the operational upkeep of
Police Department equipment.

Property and Evidence: The property section is responsible for procurement, inventory and issuing uniforms and equipment vital for officers to successfully perform their assigned duties. The evidence section is
responsible for the accounting, coordination and reporting of thousands of pieces of evidence, which later may be used by detectives, prosecutors, defense attorneys, the Courts, and the property and evidence technicians themselves.

Human Resource Bureau "To support the Police Department's mission, core values, goals and objectives through the proper, efficient
and fair management of it's most important resource - it's people!"
The primary functions of HRB is to organize, coordinate and oversee the department's recruitment, retention,
hiring, promotions, work force safety, pay and benefit issues, performance evaluation systems, training,
educational internships, work study positions and other miscellaneous volunteer programs.

Records Administration Bureau The Records Administration Bureau (RAB) is responsible for the maintenance and archiving of Grand Forks Police Department records and reports along with furnishing administrative support to the department.  Records staff provides customer service to the public, directing inquiries, collecting various fees and releasing records in accordance with ND State Open Records law.

Uniform Patrol Bureau The Uniform Patrol Bureau (UPB) includes the sergeants, patrol officers and sector officers who provide around the clock law enforcement services to the Grand Forks community. Officers within the Uniformed Patrol Bureau pride themselves on responding quickly to calls for service and providing professional services.
